Changing Patient Ownership
Overview
In this tutorial, you will learn how to change the owner of your patients.
IMPORTANT:
If the patient is checked into the recurring module, you may wish to check the patient out, then bill, change ownership, and check them back in.
If there are unbilled procedures on the patient file and these procedures should belong to the initial owner, please be sure to bill these procedures BEFORE changing ownership.
When changing patient ownership, please note that closed and pending invoices will NOT automatically change ownership (including open Hospital records (Inpatient invoices).

Step-by-Step Guidance
Locate the Patient File: Navigate to the patient file whose ownership you want to update.
Select the Patient: Click on the patient to open their profile.
If there are unbilled procedures for this horse that need to go under the original owner, go to Billing
Adjust date range if needed > Refresh
Select the procedures that need to be billed to the original owner
Click Bill
Review the invoice date and other properties > Save
Review the invoice > Close invoice
Update Ownership:
Navigate back to the Patient File
Click on the "Owner" field.
Use the backspace key to clear the existing information
Search for the new owner's name in the search bar that appears.
Select the new owner from the search results list.
Update Ownership Fields (Optional):
A pop-up window will ask if you want to update "all fields." This includes Agent, Ship To, Trainer, Registration, and Origin.
Selecting "Yes" will update all these fields to the new owner.
Selecting "No" will only update the "Owner" field.
Save Changes: Click the "Save" button on the Patient File to finalize the ownership update.
